Sleeping bag, baby nest, baby sleeping bag, our guide to distinguishing them
Baby nest, sleeping bag, sleeping bag… Many terms are used to talk about baby's nighttime equipment, but do you know what they are used for?
In a few words:
- The sleeping bag and the sleeping bag are synonyms. It is an essential accessory for your baby's sleep . Check its composition and the materials used carefully so that they are free of harmful substances.
- The angel's nest is used as soon as the baby leaves the maternity ward to keep it warm. It is a small sleeping bag, without straps but with a hood, ideal for outdoor outings.
What is the difference between a sleeping bag and a sleeping bag?
None ! These two terms mean the same thing. The sleeping bag , or sleeping bag, allows you to wrap your baby up safely at night.
This accessory looks like a sleeping bag with straps . It keeps baby warm and prevents him from uncovering himself. Unlike the baby duvet , not recommended before 2 years, it leaves his face clear to avoid any risk of suffocation.

To help you choose your sleeping bag, they are classified according to a heat index called “TOG”.
The TOG should be adapted to the temperature of the baby's room .
From 22°C, it is better to opt for a TOG 1 sleeping bag, without wadding. Cocoeko TOG 1 sleeping bags are made of cotton gauze , a soft and breathable material.
The different TOGs:
- TOG 1 or “ summer sleeping bag ”: Without padding, poplin or double cotton gauze lining.
- TOG 2 or “ all-season sleeping bag ”: Padded with hypoallergenic wadding , soft and light, can be used all year round.
- TOG 3 or “fleece sleeping bag”: Thicker, ideal for periods of extreme cold , use with caution to avoid overheating.

Sleeping bags come in different sizes, from 0 to 36 months . At birth, a 0-3 month sleeping bag is recommended. Choose Oeko-Tex certified materials to guarantee the absence of harmful substances.
And what about the angel's nest?
The angel's nest is different from the sleeping bag. It looks like a small sleeping bag with a hood , ideal for protecting baby from the cold when going out.
Why choose an angel nest?
The angel nest is often chosen for birth, as soon as you leave the maternity ward . It envelops your baby to give him a feeling of warmth and comfort, reminiscent of the mother's womb.
Unlike the sleeping bag, the angel's nest is not suitable for the night . It is recommended for travel (stroller, pram, carrycot).

And when baby grows up...
Essential in winter, the footmuff is ideal for protecting baby from the cold when out and about in a stroller.
Thicker than the angel nest, it is designed for outdoor use and adapts to stroller attachments. Warning: do not use indoors to avoid overheating.
