Managing your schedule as a new parent

As a new parent, it can sometimes be difficult to manage your time and find moments for yourself. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you better organize your daily life.

Medical appointments

Your baby has lots of medical appointments, and it's easy to get confused... Don't panic, we'll summarize everything for you! To stay organized, identify the important appointments and keep a schedule to make sure you don't miss any. To help you, use an app like Google Calendar, reminders on your phone, a paper diary, or even the good old-fashioned method of sticking a calendar on the fridge. Note that from birth to age 6, your child has 20 mandatory medical appointments.

Planning from birth to the 12th month

Your baby's first check-up takes place within 8 days of birth. A health certificate is issued, giving details of the pregnancy, birth and baby's state of health. A second check-up is recommended between days 8 and 12 to ensure that everything is going well.

Thereafter, a monthly check-up is scheduled until the baby is 6 months old. At 9 months, an important consultation is held to issue the 2nd health certificate. Baby is then seen again at 12 months, then 13 months, and another appointment is scheduled between 16 and 18 months. Finally, an examination at 24 months concludes this period with the 3rd health certificate.

During these consultations, your child receives the compulsory vaccinations and their reminders, recorded in his or her health record. Discover our health booklet protectors to keep them well protected.

The 2- to 6-year plan

After the age of 2, your child will continue to receive regular check-ups with a healthcare professional. Consultations are scheduled at ages 3, 4, 5, and 6. These appointments are an opportunity to monitor your child's growth and psychomotor development, check their vaccinations, and discuss everyday issues with the doctor, such as sleep, managing emotions, allergies, etc.

Taking time with your child

As a parent, it is very important for both you and your child to spend time together. Sometimes, with our heads down, we miss out on simple moments! Spend time with your child to bond: sing lullabies, cuddle them, tell them stories, or even give them a massage at bedtime... There are many possibilities. If they are a little older, you can share activities together. Introducethem to new things: walks in the forest, sports or yoga, baking delicious cakes. Create little rituals that will become moments of pleasure that you will look forward to.

Taking time for yourself

Dear new parents, take some time for yourselves! Set aside time in your schedule for a walk, a get-together with friends, a wellness break... In short, whatever you enjoy! Ask for help: being a full-time new parent takes a lot of energy, so sometimes you need to delegate in order to unwind. The golden rule is not to feel guilty. You have the right to take time for yourself. It's important to let go so you can recharge your batteries.
